In the interest of full disclosure, I am a huge Patriots fan. Tom Brady obviously deserves this award and I love sitting over a beer debating with friends across the country as to who is the best Free Agency QB to date. But that's not what my post is about.
Why is this story breaking today? If I'm not mistaken a football game of epic proportion was on the docket for this Sunday. A clash between two of the most storied franchises of the 20th century. What is the NFL thinking breaking this story today? This was a day to cheer for Aaron Rodgers and to jeer that other scummy bastard.
Last week, Coach Bill received COY award. Worthy as hell.despite several other terrific candidates. ON THE SAME DAY, ESPN (and please don't get me started on these media whores) breaks a story that Goodell says he felt deceived by Coach B after spygate. WTF?
Does the NFL have a marketing department? I've listened to so many people over the past few years rail on Goodell and I'm starting to think he's an executive moron on the scale of the Enron putzes. Hire a few saavy college kids to look five minutes down the road for you for crissakes. And to think that Goodell's next charge is preventing a 2011-12 lockout? What do you suppose the over/under is on the next NFL game being played before Christmas 2011?
Oh, and as footnote. Brady's the best QB of the young century. You disagree? Buy me a beer and we'll talk.
